The Christ the King Prayer Band Organization was founded in 1972 by Sister Barbara Rahming under Fr. Murillo Bonaby with The Right Rev. Bishop Michael Eldon as head of the Diocese of The Bahamas, and the Turks and Cacos Islands. It became the first Prayer Band in the Anglican Diocese in the Bahamas. Its’ 1st. president was the late Sister Della Knowles from1972 to 1984. After her demise, the baton was passed on to Sister Marjorie Thompson who served untiringly with great dedication for a few years. She was succeeded by Sister Inez Frazer who served for less than a year before her untimely demise. Sister Menera Gay acted as president until election was called the following year when Mrs. Thompson was re-elected. She served until 2008 when she relinquished her position. She was succeeded by Sister Rose Rolle who continued the work of the Prayer Band until January of 2011.

The Prayer Band members are encouraged to become Women of Valour- To find their purpose and feed their souls through daily and cooperate Bible Study, constant prayers, attending workshops and conferences, being true disciples of Christ, respecting self and authority, freely giving of time and treasure-tithing, to celebrate life in all its’ splendor by loving self and allowing God to do the rest.
